About me

I'm a London-based journalist writing here about science, health, technology and the media, and working as a news reporter for the Daily Telegraph.

I previously worked as a senior reporter and business reporter at regional newspaper the Surrey Advertiser, covering science and nature, as well as the Guildford area in general. While there, I was responsible for the editorial side of the quarterly business supplement, Business News Extra. I also have experience of writing about healthcare, including medical research, from my time as a reporter covering clinical news for C+D magazine.

I was shortlisted for the Top scoop/exclusive award in the trainee category at the NCTJ Awards for Excellence 2011. My feature writing has also been recognised, and I won the award for Best Article About a Dutch Region at the Taste the Dutch Lifestyle Travel Writers Awards 2011.

With an NCTJ-accredited postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism from Cardiff University under my belt, which I completed in 2008/2009, I passed the NCTJ's senior journalism qualification, the NCE, in March 2011. As a result, I'm fully trained in media law and have 100wpm shorthand.

I enjoy writing features, news stories and analysis, particularly about science, health and technology. I've been trained to shoot and edit video footage, use online applications and social media, and enjoy photography.

I'm keen on languages and can speak intermediate-level French, and am currently teaching myself Finnish (I'm a half-Finn), Spanish and Portuguese.
